Damone Roberts Debunks Some Age Old Beauty Myths

Photo: © 2009 Jupiterimages Corporation Makeup artist Damone Roberts, the wold famous "beauty therapist", visited Oprah earlier this week to debunk some time old beauty myths. Beauty myth #1-Tweezing is better than wax for eyebrows. This makes the skin around the eyes less likely to sag. Fact- False! If the skin around your eyes is going to sag, there is not much one can do to stop it that does not involve cosmetic surgery. If this were true, then the tweezing (which involves constant pulling) would actually loosen the skin more than the wax, which is one quick pulling motion. Beauty myth #2-Natural products are better for your skin than artificial ones. Fact- False! While some naturl products work really well, for acutal "results" nothing beats nothing works better than retinol and glycolic acids. Beauty myth #3-Misting your face with water during a long flight is a good way to moisturize. Fact- False! Misting your face with plain water will actually cause your face to dry out even more as water evaporates. Find a spitzer with aloe vera or glycerin to lock in moisture. Beauty myth #4-Myth: Chocolate causes acne. Fact- False! Hormones, overactive oil glands, heredity & dead skin cells that lodge in skin pores are what cause acne. A poor diet can exacerbate skin conditions though. Photo: © 2009 Jupiterimages Corporation Beauty myth#5-Concealer should be applied before foundation. Fact-False! Concealer should be one to two shades brighter than your foundation to brighten up the undereye area, while blending into the foundation. This is best achieved by applying the concealer on top of the foundation. To see more go visit Oprah.com for more beauty myths debunking.
