Baz Luhrmann brings back the roaring twenties with his remake of The Great Gatsby

 

Baz Luhrmann is remaking the classic novel, The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the disillusioned social-climber Jay Gatsby and Carey Mulligan as the charming yet shallow Daisy Buchanan. The movie is set to release December 25th. These roles were originally played by Robert Redford and Mia Farrow in the 1974 version.

Between The Great Gatsby and Downtown Abby, the roaring twenties is making a come back this year. 

Simple chemise dresses, dropped waistlines and Eton crops styled beneath cloche hats adorned with beading, feathers and string upon string of pearls. 

Ralph Lauren designed the costumes for the 1974 version of The Great Gatsby and revived the trend thirty-eight year later with his Spring RTW 2012 collection.

Saturday Stimulation-Downtown Abby walks the runway at NYFW

Ralph Lauren’s homage to the hit PBS show-Downtown Abbey-was unmistakable this  season. With the Downtown theme song as a soundtrack, his girls walked the runway in English tweeds, traditional plaids, three-piece suits, and, just for kicks, top hats and walking sticks. The vibe was less Lady Mary, more Earl of Grantham—but Ralph Lauren has always had a knack for making menswear-inspired looks feel chic and feminine.
