Growing up I was a picky eater. My mom has told me that as a small child she was convinced there was something wrong with me because I was just that tiny.
As I grew older I stayed a picky eater and wasn't above making gagging noises at the table to get my point across.
My mom still worried but I survived and the Dr. told her to chill; all was well.
Now that I have given birth to my own picky eater I just wanted to tell my mom I was sorry.
My child was not picky as a baby. Born a preemie at 26 weeks her body consumed food like it was going out of style. Which was fine with me. She needed the calories. By 6 months I had to move her to solids.
By age 2 there wasn't anything she wouldn't eat. If her father ate it...she ate it. Vienne wennies, toast, sardines(bad daddy),cranberries, meatloaf, combo pizzas, ect...
By age 7 the pickiness kicked in.
Suddenly only chicken nuggets, cheese pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches,f/f's were it.
No meat that wasn't fried. No veggies. No fruit.
This kid could revile me on the gag noises.
Of course, I couldn't let her eat just those above things so I had to become creative.

Mom, I'm sorry. Your were right. Gagging at the dinner table DOES sound gross. :)
