Tempting Tuesday-Isabel Marant

Isabel Marant has always been one of my all time fav designers. She started designing accessories in 1989 and launched her full ready-to-wear collection five years later. The label is an indie favorite among fashion mavens and magazines, and is known for minimalist, bohemian clothing: short, casual dresses, loose-fitting knits, slouchy trousers, tailored jackets, and lush scarves. Marant created a lower-priced diffusion line, Etoile, in 1999 which soon developed a cult following of it's own.

Known for her signature studded cuffed ankle booties (which I might add have a waiting list that spans the world a few times around) her Fall 2010 collection shows us a different side of her.
Although the chief theme this year in fashion is the 80's, Marant takes us back to the 50's with fitted jeans rolled up mid-calf, faded denim jackets, sparkly tees, cat-eye eye liner, high ponytails, and long dangly earrings.

The show was essentially a teasing out of the many different ways to riff on that core look. There was a stripey rugby sweater worn with short silver paillette leggings, a leather-sleeved baseball jacket with cropped red motorcycle leather pants, a white rabbit jacket and black capris, and so on.

Though there is an inherent theme running rapid through all the designers this year as though following a temp plate...Marant has enough going down the runway to ensure her fans will be flocking to her boutiques.

Stimulation Saturday

I was absolutely ECSTATIC to see that Isabel Marant had arrived at Net A Porter. One of fashions best kept secrets, Isabel Marant's designs are fresh, loose, and an instant classic. Her strong-shouldered jackets are crafty with embellishments around the neckline. Pants came shiny and draped, or tight and striped with lacing at the ankles. And the cuffed pirate boot-sure to replace the long lean rocker boots of the past-are dripping with fringe and chains around the ankles. Every piece she designs is unique and one of a kind yet can be combined with other pieces that will be in style for years to come.

Isabel Marant is HERE to STAY.
