Out With The Old And In With The New

Spring is the time to clean your closet. But what to do with the clothing you no longer wear or *gasp* fit in to? Recycling and upcycling are one option. Take the undesirable item and make it into something else. Old t shirts and jeans can become trendy kick arse skirts. Old cashmere and wool sweaters can be washed(felted) and made in to adorable purses, hats, gloves, leg/arm warmers. Check out this site for some clever ideas for old wool & cashmere. The Threadbanger. This clever little DIYer found some cast off Chucks and with some extra fabric, laces, and some time & imagination made these uber cool knee highs. Got some old accessories that are broke or missing and item? Make shoe and purse jewelry. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination. Not the crafty type? Don't worry-neither am I. :) Consignment stores are a wonderful way to recycle your clothing and score some cash. Most consignment cstores do a 60/40 take. Store gets 60 and you get 40. They often require the clothing to be clean, in good condition, and a recent style. Some consignment stores will allow you to sell the clothing to them for store credit. You often get more money for your items that way and you can spend it right there. Win-Win. *I do consignments if your interested. Contact me thru my store. One idea that has become VERY popular the last year are swap parties. Swap parties are just what you would think. You take items you no longer want and contribute to the swap pile. For every item you bring...you get to swap one out. Don;t know anyone who participates in that? How about start you r own? It's a great way to meet new people, score some new duds, and hear some of the neighborhood gossip. ;) Have fun!!
