Yep, I said it. Santa creeps me. Not the storybook Santa or present bringing Santa, but the guy the mall hires every year. I’m sure he’s very nice but the whole racket is sketchy to me. Think about it. We tell our kids to never talk to strangers and certainly never let them touch them; yet every Christmas we toss our kids in to the lap of a huge stranger dressed all in red with a creepy long beard, beady eyes, and usually bad breathe. And then we cajole and threaten kids to,”Smile and tell Santa what you want.”
Really?
Does no one else see a problem with this? Sit on a strange man’s lap and ask him for gifts? Hello? You couldn’t pay me to sit on any of the laps below.
“And I’ll get your little dog too!”
That kids face say it all.
Remove the kid and you have the perfect mug shot.
The eyes always give them away.
It’s touchy feely Santa.
Uhhh…we need a clean up on aisle 5.

Totally agree! I can remember feeling a little iffy myself when the opportunity came for me to go sit and tell my heart's desires to the guy.
The pictures are so funny. It's kinda sad tho, in this day and age, when we tell kids to be careful of strangers, and then encourage them to do just that - go up close and talk to this creepy fat guy while your family watches.

Linda-THANK YOU! My hubs thinks I'm crazy thinking this but I honestly feel creeped oput by it all. I remember the first time I put my kidlet on Santa's lap and she looked at me with the "deer in the headlights" look. After that I decided to bypass this tradition.
My kids are so funny about it.
We went to SeaWorld where there is a Santa, and my kids stood off to the side - no lap sitting or touching allowed - and told him they would write him a letter.
They posed for the picture but with Santa like off to the side and not in arms reach.
I'm with you sister - my kids are not lapping it.
