Now I don’t know about all of you but I know this Sunday I will be parked in front of a TV with nachos on one side, beer on the other, and football in front of me.
On February 6th, 2011, starting at 6:30pm ET, the Steelers VS the Packers for Super Bowl XLV. I am pulling for the Steelers myself because the Packers suuuuuuuck. (sorry Mandi)
But while we are waiting for what is predicted to be the most watched program of the year-here are some interesting totally random Super Bowl facts.
- From 1967 to 1984, only CBS and NBC aired the Super Bowl, trading off each year. ABC entered the rotation in 1985, and FOX followed suit in 1997.
- 6% of Americans call in sick the Monday after Super Bowl
- Miami has hosted the Super Bowl 10 times.
-The Stadium in Miami has vomitoriums. Though not an official puke place; it’s actually a passage below a tier of seats in an amphitheater through which a crowd can spew out after the game. (we Floridians think of everything)
- The Steelers have won the most Super Bowls with 6 wins (take THAT Packers!)
- Budweiser has been the exclusive Super Bowl beer advertiser for the past 13 years.
- Minnesota, Buffalo and Denver have lost the most Super Bowls at 4 times. Buffalo lost 4 times in a row.
- 8 million pounds of guacamole is consumed on Super Bowl Sunday
- Super Bowl fans spend more than $50 million on food during the 4 days prior to the super bowl.
- Dan Reeves, Mike Ditka and Tony Dungy have appeared in the Super Bowl as a player, assistant coach and head coach.
- A 30 second commercial played during the Super Bowl costs about $3 million dollars.
- No network footage exists of Super Bowl I. It was taped over, supposedly for a soap opera.
- No NFL team has ever played the Super Bowl on its own home field.
- The Super Bowl championship rings cost on average $5,000.00 each.
- The Super Bowl is measured in Roman numerals because a football season runs the span of two calendar years.
