Sorry Mom. An Apology From A Picky Eater

Growing up I was a picky eater. My mom has told me that as a small child she was convinced there was something wrong with me because I was just that tiny. As I grew older I stayed a picky eater and wasn't above making gagging noises at the table to get my point across. My mom still worried but I survived and the Dr. told her to chill; all was well. Now that I have given birth to my own picky eater I just wanted to tell my mom I was sorry. My child was not picky as a baby. Born a preemie at 26 weeks her body consumed food like it was going out of style. Which was fine with me. She needed the calories. By 6 months I had to move her to solids. By age 2 there wasn't anything she wouldn't eat. If her father ate it...she ate it. Vienne wennies, toast, sardines(bad daddy),cranberries, meatloaf, combo pizzas, ect... By age 7 the pickiness kicked in. Suddenly only chicken nuggets, cheese pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches,f/f's were it. No meat that wasn't fried. No veggies. No fruit. This kid could revile me on the gag noises. Of course, I couldn't let her eat just those above things so I had to become creative. Enter The Sneaky Chef. Seriously...this book and website ROCKS!! Will I lie to my child about what's in her favorite foods? YES!!! This book and her website has incredible tips and tricks to get your picky eater to not only eat new foods but to like them. Of course, this hasn't stopped the war. But it has made the battle much easier Mom, I'm sorry. Your were right. Gagging at the dinner table DOES sound gross. :)

I'm gonna have to check that out. I have two picky eaters but they're picky in different ways. And hmm, they aren't little anymore so I'll have to be a LOT more creative.

Smokinhotbooks-I'm like that with Chinese food. My hubs will eat in in the bethroom so he doesn't have to look or listen to me.

Waterwaif-The website and books are great. They really taught me a lot. I still use them because little dd gets picker & picker each yr.

My oldest son will eat rocks with ketchup if you let him, no problem there. But my baby girl? She only eats rice and fruits, that's it. Rice of any color but just rice and maybe some beans but watch it she will swat your hand away if you dare get close with anything else. Maybe a chicken nugget, if we are lucky.

Ahhh I have to admit I was a table gagger. I still am. I do not eat fish or seafood of any kind nor do I eat veggies. Nope, no way not happening. I run past the seafood section at Publix because I swear I can smell the fish. Can't do it captain. My kids on the other hand eat just about everything. They love chinese food and spanish food. The only thing I have a hard time with them over is suffing and mashed potatos, and some rices. Oh and the son won't eat eggs.
