Tempting Thursday-J’adore Dior

Dior brings back old world Hollywood glam with the use of some modern day technology in order to revive some of Hollywood's greatest icons and include them in the campaign.

The film follows Charlize Theron as she rushes to get dressed, swapping her street wear for a beautiful gold gown, at a fashion show at Versailles' Hall of Mirrors. By splicing footage, legendary actresses Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich exchange glances and even some conversation with Charlize backstage, making the spot both eerie and fascinating.

Things That Caught My Eye

Don’t Use MY Name On The Ugly Cardi

25_jcrewleopard_190x190

When J Crew name this little beaut- Duquette leopard print sweater-they thought they were being nice and honor a great designer. Little did they know that the designer’s successor, Hutton Wilkinson, would be all, “Oh HELL no. Don’t name that ugly piece of crap after me.”
So until this is all ironed out, the Duquette cardigan (shown above) is nowhere to be found on the website, but there's now a similar-looking version named the "wild spots cardigan."

David Lettermen Is My New Hero

David Letterman accused Donald Trump of racism during last night’s “Late Show,” taking Trump to task for the President Obama birth certificate controversy.

During an interview with guest Dr. Phil, Letterman suggested that Trump’s recent implication that Obama only got into Columbia and Harvard because he’s black is when things stopped being funny.

Letterman told Dr. Phil,  “If he comes back on this show, and I am not sure we want him back on this show under these circumstances, he ought to be prepared to apologize just for that kind of behavior.”

Things That Caught My Eye

H&M is producing a plus size line.
500x_handm_125inclusive_08
The good news? H&M will sell a  plus collection called Inclusive. There will be Spring  "figure-flattering party dresses in 50's styles with large polka dots and rose patterns" and they will come in a "wider than usual range of sizes" — UK sizes 32-54.

The bad news? The collection limited. So once it’s sold out-that’s it. It’s also only sold online and within European delivery zones. So US buyers-your SOL.

MTV reports that Lady Gaga is launching a new perfume to be called Monsters. Slated for release in 2012, rumor has it that she wants it to smell like “blood and semen.”
I’m all for a new fragrance but somehow smelling like I’ve been mattress dancing for 3 days isn’t quite the scent I’m going for.

Eau...is that you?

Perfume, like handbags and make up, is an accessory to uplift and accentuate you.
But like make up and handbags, women & men have a habit of picking the wrong one for them.
Here are some guidelines to help you come out "smelling like a rose" this season.

Rule #1. Perfume may smell divine in the bottle but smell like poo on you. Perfume reacts with your body chemestry.
That is why my bff  smells like a dream in Chanel and I smell like eau de fertilizer.
Use the testers on your skin. A spritz on paper is great but you'll get a better feel and smell of the perfume if you tab a smidgeon on a pulse point.
Plus you'll know instantly if your allergic to something in the perfume before shelling out the cha-CHING.

Rule #2. There are different types of perfumes. Oil is the most expensive and the strongest smelling. To be used sparingly.
On the opposite side you have sprays which is the cheapest and has the least amount of staying power.

Rule #3. Each season has a perfume that is perfect for it. Musk in the summer is too heavy. While floral in the winter can fade fast in the cold air.
So pick your perfume to reflect your mood and season.

Rule #4. Application. Application. Application.
Perfume should be applied in to your pulse points. The base of throat, between breasts, at the wrist, behind your knees.
If wearing a spray, I actually spray it in front of me then walk through it.

Rule #5. If you can taste your perfume...you've put to much on. Perfume should be elusive. It should peak a person's interest and draw them to you.
Not have them grabbing their throats, clawing their eyes, and dropping to the ground in search of clean air.
Moderation is your mantra.

Rule #6. Store you perfume in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight. I have a friend who places all her pretty perfumes inthe window of her bedroom.
And she can't understand why the perfume loses/changes color and smells funny. Perfume reacts with the sunlight and changes it composition.
Especially sprays. Most spray perfumes contain alcohol which will evaporate inthe heat and then volia! No more pretty perfume smell.

So go forth. Buy. And smell pretty this season.
