ZOMG! MAC Ruffin Red is back…

After a 3 year hiatus, MACs uber popular, must have lip color, Ruffian Red is BACK. And sources confirm it brought 2 friends with it. Ruffian Gold–a bold metallic 24 carat and Ruffian Naked-a creamy beige.

This delectable shade is the brainchild of Ruffian designers Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, who teamed up with MAC back in 2009 to create the perfect limited-edition lippie for their fall fashion show. Due to overwhelming popularity the shade sold out almost instantaneously.

MAC is also offering MAC is offering delicious set of ready-to-wear half-moon nails in three chic color combinations: Spectator, Demoiselle, and Demilune. These multi-use nails will change the way we look at press-on nails. They feature an adhesive on the back of the nail, so you simply press it down on the nail to stick, then peel it off from the sides when you are through. Since they're temporary, the adhesive won't damage your nails, but it's still strong enough to offer a few hours of glamorous wearing.

MAC and Estee Lauder go Retro

The hit show Mad Men finally returns next month, and to say sorry for the delay they're offering us one heck of a gift: a makeup collab. Estée Lauder will launch a mini range of show-inspired products on their website on March 18, with ads featuring Constance Jablonski doing her best Betty Draper impression.

 

 

Not to be out done, MAC has announced a retro line of makeup inspired by Marilyn Monroe. The collection, set to launch in October, will include lipstick, eyeshadow, nail polish, and more.  Think bold reds and hot pinks. Now the only question is who will appear in the ads: will it be Michelle Williams or one of the girls from that show Smash?

Sometimes It’s better To say Nothing At All

The internet has become much more then an information highway. It is a way to connect with other people who share similar interests, express our views and thoughts, and share things that we would never tell someone face to face. It offers us a sense of comradely and anonymity even when place our name in the byline. How many times have we read someone's comments only to laugh and joke about them because,  after all, they are only words?

Recently I read an article that not only surprised me but left me feeling very sad. Im Not A Perfect Mother. A young mother verbalized her feelings on not being a perfect mother and went on to explain why she may love her son more then her daughter. While I don’t vilify her for her feelings; she’s entitled and I have not walked in her shoes, what I objected to was the fact that she choose to broadcast this to the world.

She posted an update to explain why she did it, the most memorable statement being that her mother favored her brother and as she got older, she and her mother were able to talk about it. It made her mother more human to her. That’s great that she and her mom were able to become friends as adults but her mother didn’t publish her thoughts in a magazine or newspaper. She didn’t write a tell all memoir. She talked to her daughter face to face.

I can’t help but fear that the reasons this blogger had for doing this won’t be enough to justify to her child why the world deserved an explanation before she did.

Iris Apfel for MAC collection are here. Via a press release, MAC describes it as "a color collection inspired by a rare bird who has always been ahead of her time." The line features lipsticks, lip pencils, eye shadows, mascara, beauty powder, nail lacquers, and of course, an "impeccable brow pencil," and will arrive on January 5th.

Things That Caught My Eye

H&M is producing a plus size line.

The good news? H&M will sell a  plus collection called Inclusive. There will be Spring  "figure-flattering party dresses in 50's styles with large polka dots and rose patterns" and they will come in a "wider than usual range of sizes" — UK sizes 32-54.

The bad news? The collection limited. So once it’s sold out-that’s it. It’s also only sold online and within European delivery zones. So US buyers-your SOL.


Lady Gaga’s new perfume to smell like blood & semen. Eau.

MTV reports that Lady Gaga is launching a new perfume to be called Monsters. Slated for release in 2012, rumor has it that she wants it to smell like “blood and semen.”
I’m all for a new fragrance but somehow smelling like I’ve been mattress dancing for 3 days isn’t quite the scent I’m going for.

Weekend Wrap Up

This has been an wild week with new releases, fashion faux pas, and cell phone intrigue.

City of Ghosts by Stacia Kane  was released Tuesday and I D.E.V.O.U.R.E.D. it. In about 2 hrs. Srsly.I ignored my family to finish this book. If you haven't read this series-run, don't walk to your local bookstore and purchase it. Of course, Eternal Kiss Of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost was also released Tuesday and it is a solid 2nd behind City Of Ghosts.There is ceiling sex in this book folks. Frost is the author of the highly popular Night Huntress series featuring Bones and Cat. 

I'm sure you all read about how I finally broke down and bought a smartphone-my first crackberry. What should have been a simple transaction turned into a 2 week fiasco that literally took me to the edge of madness. Apparently, even though Sprint and Nextel are the same company they are 2 separate entities. Meaning that a Sprint phone may or may not work where you live and same rule applies for a Nextel. This is something I learned the hard way. I also learned that Sprint Customer Service doesn't tell you this unless hot pilers are applied to sensitive places. I won't bore you with a long whiny story. Sufficed to say after 10 days, 8 phone calls, 4 chats, and 2 1.5 hr trips to a corporate Sprint store I finally received a Blackberry that I can tweet from 

                                     the bathroom.

Amazon Kindle has come out with the Kindle DX. I do not own a Kindle and have never ever had the urge to own one. But after seeing this I may have to change my mind.

Bloggers can make a change. After some bloggers were offended by MAC nail polish named Juarez offensive, the company decided to donate the proceeds from the sale of this polish to the people of Juarez. One blogger, the Frisky, stated it was tasteless-

   "Why’s it tasteless? Juarez is an impoverished Mexican factory town notorious for the number of women    between the ages of 12 and 22 who have been raped and murdered with little or no response from police."

A press release outlined specifics about the promised charity efforts: All profits from the collection worldwide will go to a "newly created initiative to raise awareness and provide on-the-ground support to the women and girls in Juarez." MAC and Rodarte apologize again in the release for unintentionally causing so much upset. 

Who got 4 magazine covers in one month?
