5 things for Monday

As if John Paul Gautier wasn’t creepy enough.

In his newest job as creative director for Diet Coke, Gaultier appears in a series of videos starring himself as "The Serial Designer," a character who comes to the rescue of hapless, badly-dressed puppets. The latest video features Bernadette, a puppet who has a nightmare that she's too hung over to go to a job interview. Luckily, Gaultier appears in her dream just in time to zip her into a nice Gaultier dress. There is one bad moment where Gauliter begins to remove her robe and all you can think is, “OMG…he's going to violate the puppet!” Never fear, he’s only dresses her better. Whew. That was close.

My Blackberry committed suicide this weekend. Apparently it was sad that it no longer had the ability to direct connect anymore and decided life was no longer worth living.

Rush Limbaugh blasted Sandra Fluke for daring to want affordable birth control, laughing that it was all just a joke. But the king of vile isn’t laughing now that his advertisers are dropping him like a bad habit.

Could this be the end of Limbaugh? We can only hope.

R&R goes mainstream.

Apparently Rock and Republic, the former high priced premium denim maker, decided that it needed alittle collab action and decided Kohls was the way to go.

5 things for Monday

This weekend was cold. The weather man said, “Oh, it’ll be a lovely 75 degree going into Daytona 500 weekend”.

LIAR!!!!!! This is what we got.

I’ve been reading the Adrien English Mysteries by Josh Lanyon.

Oh my poor, poor heart. An emotional, turbulent love story wrapped in the trappings of a contemporary mystery. Adrien English is an openly gay book seller who’s Miss Marple-like nosiness for murder beings him to the attention of closet gay Detective Jake Riordan. From Fatal Shadows (book one) to The Dark Tide (book 5) we watch as Adrien and Jake’s relationship blazes with the strength of a thousand suns only to crash and burn due to lies, secrets, and selfishness. What appeals to me about this series is the realism of the characters and their emotions. Lanyon doesn’t hold back in here; offering neither unicorn sparkles or rainbows to help ease your way. I found myself laughing, crying, and planning a fictional character’s murder as I watched Adrien (a book boyfriend) deal with his feelings for an irresponsible and confused Jake.

A word of advice. Read Fatal Shadows. If you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it like me…buy the other 4 because once you start, you won’t want to wait to continue on to the next one.

How freaking cute is this???

Unleash your inner Cat Power.  From  Charlotte Olympia’s cat heels and flats to Jason Wu’s Target collab mascot, we decided to jump on the bandwagon and pay homage to our feline friends with a delicious DIY.  Be fierce and show your feminine feline side with a DIY that’s purrrrrrrfect!

To create:  cut out 2 triangles in black, that are slightly rounded, for the ears. Measure and cut out a smaller and contrasting shape for the inner ear.  Use the same fabric to create a nose shape.  Use either leather, suede, or any faux fabric you have.  Create a “face” with puffy paint drawing eyes onto a plain loafer. Be sure to use a different color puffy paint for the inside of eyes.  Glue ears onto the inside of the loafer with a glue gun.  Attach the nose and finish drawing the face by adding whiskers and a mouth.  Wait until puffy paint is completely dry before kicking up your heels and exercising your cat like reflects!

Erica Domsek from P.S. I Made This pays homage to Charlotte Olympia’s cat heels and flats to Jason Wu’s Target collab mascot by showing us how to make these ADORABLE kitty cat pumps.

I am so doing this.

 lover-reborn

J.R. Ward”s Lover Reborn is a book most of us readers want…like…NOW! It’s Tohr’s story but rumors tell us that team query will have plenty of show time with lots of angst and torture to keep us hooked deep.
I’m not a preview reader myself. It irritates me more then anything to read a few lines or chapters only to have to wait till release to read the rest. But, if you like the tease, FOUR, count them FOUR, chapters are up here to hold you over till March 27th.

louisvuitton

1. Louis Vuitton hasn’t made a new fragrance since the 1930’s but they have confirmed that they are  in the process of making one now. The French fashion house will be working with “master perfumer” Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud on the scent. We can thank Cavallier-Belletrud for Dior Addict, Poeme by LancĂ´me as well as many others. No release date set but I’m sure it’ll be well worth it’s price.

2. It’s Girl Scout cookie time!!  Yes, that time where thousands of earnest little girls, dressed in carbon copy outfits, prey on the weak (like me), hawking these tiny little boxes of goodness. It was announced recently that there is a new cookie called Savannah Smiles.

“Celebrate the anniversary of the Girl Scouts with these bite-sized, lemon-wedge cookies dusted in powdered sugar and bursting with lemon flavor. Enjoy these delightful treats, remember where Girl Scouts began …and smile.”

Send ‘em my way please.

Ever wonder what your choice of cookie says about you? Here’s a little guide that will divulge deep into your inner psyche and release your inner cookie secrets.

MONTBLANC ANNIVERSARY

3. I haz a sad. Rumors are flying that Johnny Depp is breaking things off with his long time companion Vanessa Paradis. While I’m saddened to hear this; they have been together 14 years, have two children together, and you never, EVER hear anything bad about them, I also got to thinking…who Johnny should hook up  if and when the ax severs this 14 year relationship? I say Winona Ryder. Already dated, knows her crazy like the back of his hand, and he can get the tattoo reworked again.

5. Merry Christmas!!! Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, the couple from hell, Courtney Stodden and her deranged pervie husband Doug Hutchinson, apparently made a holiday video that really puts Santa in a new and unflattering light. NSFW or anywhere else. Video here. Any seizures, sudden blindness, or subsequent therapy sessions needed after viewing are all on you.

5 things for Monday

1. Love. This. Commercial. The baby in here is too freaking adorable!

2 & 3.(Cause it’s kinda long)
Sometimes It’s better To say Nothing At All
The internet has become much more then an information highway. It is a way to connect with other people who share similar interests, express our views and thoughts, and share things that we would never tell someone face to face. It offers us a sense of comradely and anonymity even when place our name in the byline. How many times have we read someone's comments only to laugh and joke about them because,  after all, they are only words?
Recently I read an article that not only surprised me but left me feeling very sad. Im Not A Perfect Mother. A young mother verbalized her feelings on not being a perfect mother and went on to explain why she may love her son more then her daughter. While I don’t vilify her for her feelings; she’s entitled and I have not walked in her shoes, what I objected to was the fact that she choose to broadcast this to the world.
She posted an update to explain why she did it, the most memorable statement being that her mother favored her brother and as she got older, she and her mother were able to talk about it. It made her mother more human to her. That’s great that she and her mom were able to become friends as adults but her mother didn’t publish her thoughts in a magazine or newspaper. She didn’t write a tell all memoir. She talked to her daughter face to face.
I can’t help but fear that the reasons this blogger had for doing this won’t be enough to justify to her child why the world deserved an explanation before she did.

4. And you didn’t think it could get any better!
Move over Miss Peggy, MAC has lined up another fashion forward matron to colab with.
Iris Apfel for MAC collection are here. Via a press release, MAC describes it as "a color collection inspired by a rare bird who has always been ahead of her time." The line features lipsticks, lip pencils, eye shadows, mascara, beauty powder, nail lacquers, and of course, an "impeccable brow pencil," and will arrive on January 5th.
Racked has a peek of the line here.

5 for Monday-The top 5 black Friday deals

Black Friday is in 4 days so the time has come to plan your attack strategy. Believe it or not, there is a way to approach Black Friday and make it less of a free for all and more of a shopping experience that won’t require therapy and some hard liquor when your done. Unless that’s your thing…I don’t judge here.
First off remember…this is shopping, NOT finding the cure for cancer. Nothing in those stores is worth getting stressed or injured over.
1. Get there early.
2. Know and follow the store rules. Some stores require you wear a bracelet or grab a ticket. It would suck if you get there and find you can’t even get in.
3.Get the flyers and circle exactly what you are looking for. Don’t go into these stores with the intent to browse.
4. If it’s the last item-let it go. You get triple karma points and like I said above, there is nothing there worth getting injured over.

Here are  6 fab deals that I’ve found that may make the trip to hell worth it.
Sharp 42-inch 1080p TV  $199.99 at Best Buy
Asus Transformer $249.99 at Best Buy
Xbox 360 4GB Game System $139.99 at Target
Lenovo dual-core AMD laptop $179.99 at Best Buy
PlayStation 3 $199.96 at Wal-Mart, Sears, and Target (the bundle offers extra controller and 2 games)
Apple iPod Touch with free $50 gift card $199.99 at Toys R Us
Toshiba Smart Blu-ray Disc Player $39.99 at Best Buy

Don’t want to deal with the crowds? Well, you really don’t have to. Most websites offer the same deals on line AND there is also Cyber Monday which is Black Friday for the internet.

So be smart, be safe, and remember….Christmas should be enjoyed as the holiday was intended to be enjoyed, surrounded by your family and friends regardless of what’s under the tree.
