Ali thinks that Tate’s unresolved anger is a force to be reckoned with…even though the heat that blazes between them is undeniable. Now both Tate and Ali are left to wonder: Can love really conquer all?

Yes Virginia, this years top movies were originally books

I’m always amazed when someone tells me, “Oh I loved so and so movie,” and I ask them, “Have you read the book,” and they reply, “There was a book?”

Here are some of this years top Oscar movie picks that were originally books.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
recasts recent history through the eyes of Oskar Schell, an unusually intelligent nine-year-old on an urgent quest to find the lock that matches a mysterious key belonging to his father, who died in the World Trade Center. This unlikely adventure takes Oskar through every city borough and into contact with survivors of all sorts, and it's his irrepressible voice.

War Horse
War Horse by Michael Morpurgo

In 1914, Joey, a beautiful bay-red foal with a distinctive cross on his nose, is sold to the army and thrust into the midst of the war on the Western Front. With his officer, he charges toward the enemy, witnessing the horror of the battles in France. But even in the desolation of the trenches, Joey's courage touches the soldiers around him and he is able to find warmth and hope. But his heart aches for Albert, the farmer's son he left behind. Will he ever see his true master again?

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
Tinker, Tailor, Solder, Spy by John le Carre

"It's the oldest question of all, George. Who can spy on the spies?"
The man he knew as "Control" is dead, and the young Turks who forced him out now run the Circus. But George Smiley isn't quite ready for retirement-especially when a pretty, would-be defector surfaces with a shocking accusation: a Soviet mole has penetrated the highest level of British Intelligence. Relying only on his wits and a small, loyal cadre, Smiley traces the breach back to Karla-his Moscow Centre nemesis-and sets a trap to catch the mole.

The Help
The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Her friend Minny has never held her tongue but now must somehow keep secrets about her employer that leave her speechless. White socialite Skeeter just graduated college. She's full of ambition, but without a husband, she's considered a failure. Together, these seemingly different women join together to write a tell-all book about work as a black maid in the South, that could forever alter their destinies and the life of a small town.

The Descendants
The Decendants by Kaui Hart Hemmings

Fortunes have changed for the King family, descendants of Hawaiian royalty and one of the state’s largest landowners. Matthew King’s daughters—Scottie, a feisty ten-year-old, and Alex, a seventeen-year-old recovering drug addict—are out of control, and their charismatic, thrill-seeking mother, Joanie, lies in a coma after a boat-racing accident. She will soon be taken off life support. As Matt gathers his wife’s friends and family to say their final goodbyes, a difficult situation is made worse by the sudden discovery that there’s one person who hasn’t been told: the man with whom Joanie had been having an affair. Forced to examine what they owe not only to the living but to the dead, Matt, Scottie, and Alex take to the road to find Joanie’s lover, on a memorable journey that leads to unforeseen humor, growth, and profound revelations.

5 things for Tuesday

Usually I do 5 things for Monday but I was sick this weekend and in no shape or form to blog. I know, your probably thinking, “Damn Tori, your always sick,” and your right, I have been this year. Apparently, according to my Dr., when you move to a new area it takes about 9-10 years for your body to acclimate itself to the area . Then whatever natural immunity you might have had disappears. Whether this is true or not I have no idea, but all I can say is we are in year 10 here in Florida and it’s kicking my arse. I have never had so many allergy attacks, sinus infections, or bouts of bronchitis in my life.

ass-cheese

Another thing I have noticed, and this brings me to #5 on my list, every time I’m sick everything smells like Arse and cheese. Seriously. Perfume? Arse and cheese. Freshly washed clothing? Arse and cheese. I can’t get away from it. Drives me insane. I’m forever running around sniffing everything trying to find out what has died or has spoiled. Even T and kid gets in on the action, handing me things to sniff asking if it smells funny. :( I get no respect.

#4 Being sick made me miss the Emmys. Boo. But I’m still putting my two cents in.

BEST DRESSED- Nina Dobrev

WORST DRESSED-Paz de la Huerta

#3 The Lord Of The Abyss (Royal House Of Shadows #4) by Nalini Singh
Nocturne - Medium
Just finished this last week. Seriously, one of the best in the series. Heck, look at the cover. ZOMG! I’d have gotten it just for that chest. :) I will be reviewing this over at Smexybooks before release (November 22 from Harlequin) but I give it muy smexy points.

#2 I love the blog PS I Made This. Here the author of the blog-Erica Domesek-shows you how to tassel like a champ.

5 things for Monday

Kid went back to school today. She was 1 part excited and 3 parts unhappy.

KMM Fever Series + Disney= a possible WTF???

Having read the entire Karen Marie Moning Fever series, I have to honestly say I don’t see a good outcome for this. While I’m happy that Ms. Moning received this fabulous offer, I just don’t know. One, the books are very dark, violent, and sensual. Hello-PYI-RA?? Two, Disney? Really? Actually it’s Dreamworks that picked it up as they are looking to open a fantasy division that can produce similar successes like Harry Potter and  Lord of the Rings. Still, I just don’t see how the books will translate well to film. I mean book 4, chapter 4??? Hello? I’d pay BIG to see that on the big scene but Dreamworks doesn’t do porn as far as I know. And that is pure erotic OMG wet panty porn. I guess, I’ll just have to wait and see. I will add that if I had a choice on who to cast for Jerico Z.Barrons, I’d say Eric Etebari. YUM!!!!

Kim Kardashian ties the knot.

Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian married Kris Humphries on Saturday in a wedding estimated at $20 million dollars. TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS! Holy waste of money batman. The rings alone cost a cool $2 million. I seriously cannot imagine spending that much money on a wedding. Hell, I can’t imagine spending that much money on anything. Ah well, I wish them all the best.

I don’t need this &*^%^$

Floridians are being told to keep an eye on Tropical Storm Irene, which could strengthen into a hurricane and strike the state on Thursday, the National Hurricane Center said.

Nearly all the Florida peninsula lies within the path predicted for the five-day forecast, the Florida Emergency Management agency said Sunday in its emergency update. Irene is expected to move into the Florida straits on Wednesday or Thursday and then move over southern Florida early Friday.

EEEKKKK!!! As Antonio Dobson would say, “Hide your kids, hide your wife and hide your husband!”

One of my picks for 2011 book of the year

The Rift Walker (Vampire Empire, Book 2)

I finished The Rift Walker by Clay & Susan Griffith this weekend. The 2nd installment of this mind blowing Vampire Empire saga; this one is even better then the first of the series The Greyfriar. Though I will be reviewing this in September for smexybooks, my advice is to NOT to miss this series. A wondrous horrific gothic fantasy tale of vampires, their human prey, a war to end all wars, and a love affair that defies convention.

5 things for Monday

063907h1
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 released July 15th and made $168.6 million dollars during it’s opening weekend. This broke The Dark Knight opening record which was $158 million and went on to gross $588 million total.

What I want

Christian Louboutin Pony Leopard 120 Peep-Toe Pumps
What I found instead

29050-0291

Lorane 39 Leopard Peep Toe Pump
At a whopping price difference of $900 for the Louboutin’s versus $29 for the Lorane’s I’m a very happy camper right now.

IMG_3979
This is my newest DIY project. My mom picked this up for me at a thrift store for about $10 bucks. The wicker is in good condition, it’s just cosmetically damaged. I plan to sand off the loose paint and then white wash in a pale pink. Then wipe it off so the white shows through and the pale pink only adheres to the wicker underneath.

This weekend I jumped head first into Lorelei James by reading numbers 10 and 11 in her Rough Riders series.

Cowgirls Don't Cry (Rough Riders, #10)
Cowgirls Don't Cry (Rough Riders, #10)

and

Chasin' Eight (Rough Riders, #11)
Chasin' Eight (Rough Riders, #11)

Lord have mercy. Hot alpha cowboys, bold take no crap cowgirls and some seriously hot bed play. I’m slowly working my way backwords through her backlist. :)

Nail Art for the Book lover

63371748_DjAIBd8z_c
*note-these are not my nails.

I saw this on another blog and thought, “How cool is this??” It’s very easy to do.

1.  Paint nails with nail polish.

2.  After polish has dried dip nail into alcohol. The directions suggested vodka so I poured some in a glass to drink while I dipped my nails in rubbing alcohol. :)

3.  Press a strip of newspaper on top of the nail (nail should be wet with alcohol).

4.  Gently pull strip away and that’s it.

5. I waited till nails were perfectly dried and then add a top coat sealant.

Things That Caught My Eye Last Week

-Don’t like the new Gap Logo? Don’t fret-neither does the rest of the world. You’d think a multi million dollar company would come up with something a little better then this:
newlogo
Rumor has it that due to the overwhelming amounts of ,“WTH’s!?!?” that blasted Gap via email, facebook, and twitter, Gap has decided to pour a little cha-ching into having a new logo developed.

-The top ten new models picked by COACD
http://coacdinc.com/collective-shift-spring-summer-2011-coacd-top-ten-new-faces/
I like Fabiana Mayer at Marilyn and # 9 Maren “Britt” Stavinoha at Women the best.

-Justin Bieber and Team Dreamboat (lmao) launches a new line of Nail polish. Is it just me or is that a little strange? Available at Walmart. Theris actually 1 polish called One Less Lonely Girl.
nail2459384509826

-JR Ward, the infamous author of the oh so luscious series, Black Dagger Brotherhood, did an interview that had fangirls squealing and reeling yesterday.
1898
Rumors are flying about V, Jane, Payne, Manny, Butch, and so much more. If you are a BDB fan this >>> http://bit.ly/d4me5K should not be missed.

-I have ALWAYS been a huge fan of the Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalog. Decadence and fantasy go hand in hand in the pages of this “you will never buy this crap in a million years” book.
This is what I’m asking Santa for: Edible Gingerbread Playhouse by Dylan's Candy Bar
