WTH Wednesday-O.M.G. The Ultimate Collab

There isn’t much that surprises me anymore but THIS did. Target is the Queen, or is it King? Either way, Target rocks it out when it comes to collaborations. Alice Temperly, Zac Posen, Missoni and many other high end designer’s clothing has graced the racks of this retailer. But NOTHING beats what Target has planned for this holiday season.

Target has just announced the designer collaboration capsule to end all designer collaboration capsules. The fast-fashion retailer will be partnering with no less than 24 CFDA designers as well as high-end department store Neiman Marcus to create a doozy of a holiday collection that will be sold in both stores.

Again…O.M.G.

Prepare yourself!!!  Here's a list of who all is participating:
Alice + Olivia
Altuzarra
Band of Outsiders
Brian Atwood
Carolina Herrera
Derek Lam
Diane von Furstenberg
Eddie Borgo
Jason Wu
Judith Leiber
Lela Rose
Marchesa
Marc Jacobs
Oscar de la Renta
Philip Crangi
Prabal Gurung
Proenza Schouler
Rag & Bone
Robert Rodriguez
Rodarte
Skaist-Taylor
Thom Browne
Tory Burch
Tracy Reese

Each designer will create 1 to 3 items. WWD reports that prices will range from $7.99 to $499.99, with most items going for less than $60. The collection will launch December 1. Target's website also promises "home décor, pet products, sporting goods, and more".

All products will be sold at the same price at both stores, as well as on the Target and Neiman Marcus web site. Which means Neiman Marcus locations the country over are going to be subject to the same kind of insane cray cray-ness that typically accompanies a Target collab launch. (I’m not getting that shaft this time around bishes!)

Target has promised to reveal the collections in October. I'll have my eyes, ears, and fingers ready to report as everything is revealed.

First Look At Jason Wu for Target Looks Tres Chic

Jason-Wu-Target (2)

Though the pieces won’t hit the floor or online till 2/5…I have some sneak peeks to help tide you over till the big event.

Jason Wu embodies a feminine classic look. Modern yet timeless. Perfect for any age and able to withstand many seasons. Elegant lines with hints of flirty-ness in the print or swish of the full skirt. So it’s no surprise to see that he has continued this even with his line for Target.

Jason-Wu-Target (1)

I love the fact that while he doesn’t copy from his runway line, this collection still says in a firm voice, “This was designed by Jason Wu.” The whole line (from what I’ve seen) has a wonderful expensive look to it that is sure to please even the most fickle of fashionistas.

article-0-0F54D16B00000578-242_468x724

The entire line was inspired by a little black cat named Milu who adorns some of the accessories (I die). The collection has a tres chic French gamine vibe going on. Pleated frocks with sailor-striped hemlines, adorable Peter Pan collars, delicate silk blouses with floppy neck ties, and t-shirts and trench coats with a touch of lace.

Tempting Tuesday-Jason Wu and Target?

Jason-Wu-Target

Rumors are flying that Jason Wu is Targets next designer du jour. Tentative release is set for February 4, 2012 both in stores and online.

"My collection for Target embodies my signature aesthetic of feminine sophistication, with a mischievous nod to the 1960s," says Wu. He has designed apparel, handbags, and scarves, which will range from $20 to $60, for the occasion.

We can only hope that Target is better prepared for this unveiling then they were for Missoni.

Lets Get Ready To RUUUUUMMMMMBBBLLLEEEEE…

0_61_HellsAngels IMG_1300.JPG

The Hell’s Angels are suing Alexander McQueen, Saks, and Zappos.com for trademark infringement for using the winged death head insignia without even a “please, may we?”. Fritz Clapp, an attorney for the Hells Angels, told the Financial Times that the lawsuit was about "getting them [the mimicked symbols] out of the market, since they represent membership insignia, and anyone wearing them would be considered an imposter by club members."
Ummm yea, because I frequently mistake those wearing McQueen to be members of the Hell's Angels all the time.
But in all seriousness-some of McQueen’s items do have the words “Hell” and “Hell’s Angels” embossed on them so perhaps some issues need to be addressed. Will the HA’s win? Who knows. But remember, the Hell’s Angels successfully sued and won against Disney and Marvel comics for the same faux pas a few years ago.

Happy Anniversary to Anna Sui

19002625_041_b-260x390

Anna Sui is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with the launch of a first-ever retrospective book. In honor of such a milestone, Sui and Anthropologie, who have a longstanding relationship, got a little anthropological and selected three iconic Anna Sui dresses to resurrect and sell exclusively at Anthropologie stores. The dresses are each from a past collection–Fall 2005, Spring 2001 and Spring 2007 to be exact–and were key looks from their respective seasons.

Marie Claire EIC Joanna Coles Responds to Controversial Fattest Blog Post

OB-KQ701_mariec_E_20101030022101

I know you all are still talking about the post Maura Kelly did for Marie Claire last week. Joanne Coles, Editor in Chief at Marie Claire, responds to the controversy to LEAH CHERNIKOFF of the Fashionista blog defending Ms. Kelly and her post claiming that,
“Maura Kelly is a very provocative blogger,” “She was an anorexic herself and this is a subject she feels very strongly about.” Cole’s goes on to claim that the mag has received over 28,000 email responses to the piece, and that Kelly was “excited and moved by their responses.”While Coles made clear that she hasn’t actually seen Mike & Molly, she added “I’m concerned about a show that makes fun of large people.”
So…she decides to go ahead and allow her staff to do the same?
Josh Shahryar of the Huffington Post wrote a very eloquent post on the issue. I urge you to read it.
