Styxx (Dark Hunter #23) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Paranormal Romance
September 3, 2013
St. Martin’s Press

Just when you thought doomsday was over…

Centuries ago Acheron saved the human race by imprisoning an ancient evil bent on absolute destruction. Now that evil has been unleashed and it is out for revenge.

As the twin to Acheron, Styxx hasn’t always been on his brother’s side. They’ve spent more centuries going at each other’s throats than protecting their backs. Now Styxx has a chance to prove his loyalty to his brother, but only if he’s willing to trade his life and future for Acheron’s.

The Atlantean goddess of Wrath and Misery, Bethany was born to right wrongs. But it was never a task she relished. Until now. She owes Acheron a debt that she vows to repay, no matter what it takes. He will join their fellow gods in hell and nothing is going to stop her.

But things are never what they seem, and Acheron is no longer the last of his line. Styxx and Acheron must put aside their past and learn to trust each other or more will suffer.

Yet it’s hard to risk your own life for someone who once tried to take yours, even when it’s your own twin, and when loyalties are skewed and no one can be trusted, not even yourself, how do you find a way back from the darkness that wants to consume the entire world? One that wants to start by devouring your very soul? (Goodreads)

Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series remains one of the best selling paranormal romance series to date and for good reason. Speaking to readers of all ages and genres, Ms. Kenyon’s unique twist on vampires, mythology, and religion combines fantasy with paranormal romance to create a genre all its own.

Ms. Kenyon has enthralled me since her first book, Fantasy Lover. Intriguing suspense, non stop action, sizzling romance, and wicked humor has kept this intensely character driven series an auto buy for me well into it’s twenty third release, Styxx. Now I know many fans were shocked when Kenyon announced Styxx was the next hero in this series. Though we had seen him through the series, he has never been portrayed in a favorable light. Considered the ultimate villain, most fans identified him as a threat to our beloved Ash.

I’m reviewing Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Infamous at Smexybooks

Infamous (Chronicles of Nick, #3)

Infamous (Nick Chronicles #3) Sherrilyn Kenyon
YA-Urban Fantasy

St Martin’s Griffin

Favorite Quote: “Baby, I ain't trash. Trash is something you throw away. My people keep me.”

Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That’s the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn’t the average teenager. He’s a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him.
He’s learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive such a difficulty? But that isn’t the primary skill he has to master. Survival is.
And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known.
Or he’ll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he’ll lose everyone he cares about.
Even himself.

Nick Gaulter, our 15 year old reluctant hero who stands at the crossroads of good and evil, is back and in more trouble than ever. Someone at his school has set up a webpage that is spreading horrible, hateful rumors about the kids in school, causing tensions to rise and nobody is coming out of it unscathed. As Nick struggles to find out who is running this website, he is also training to control his powers and stay out of the hands of those who seek to subjugate him.

5 things for Monday

“Bueller…Bueller…Bueller….” Who doesn’t remember the hilarious 80s movie about a high school senior who decides that he, along with his girl friend and his best friend, need a day off from school? To celebrate the 25th anniversary of this cult classic, I leave you with one of my fav scenes from the movie.

Best Prayer EVAH!

If your a Nascar fan then you know there is a prayer before each race to ensure the safety of the drivers and the fans. Paster Joe Helms decided that he wanted to be a little different this go around and show fans that not all Christians are sticks in the mud. Some found his pray offense, but me…I found it hilarious and all in good fun.

Some people just need to lighten up.

Awwww…I haz a sad :(

This awesome-licious couple (yes, I’m being sarcastic) have decided to call it quits. The couple is claiming that the long distance between them is at fault. Ummm…your only a state or 2 away from each other. I’m thinking someone wised up and thought to themselves…, “Hmmm, he’s been married 3 times, has cheated on all 3 woman, likes strippers, and has problems with woman who are more famous or make more money then him.”

Retribution (Dark-Hunter Series #20) by Sherrilyn Kenyon: Book Cover

SQUEEE!!! SLK’s newest Dark Hunter book-Retribution-releases August 2.

A hired gunslinger, William Jessup Brady lived his life with one foot in the grave. He believed that every life had a price. Until the day when he finally found a reason to live. In one single act of brutal betrayal, he lost everything, including his life. Brought back by a Greek goddess to be one of her Dark-Hunters, he gave his immortal soul for vengeance and swore he’d spend eternity protecting the humans he’d once considered prey.  Orphaned as a toddler, Abigail Yager was taken in by a family of vampires and raised on one belief—Dark-Hunters are the evil who prey on both their people and mankind, and they must all be destroyed. While protecting her adoptive race, she has spent her life eliminating the Dark-Hunters and training for the day when she meeting the man who killed her family: Jess Brady.A gun in the hand is worth two in the holster…Jess has been charged with finding and terminating the creature who’s assassinating Dark-Hunters. The last thing he expects to find is a human face behind the killings, but when that face bears a striking resemblance to the one who murdered him centuries ago, he knows something evil is going on. He also knows he’s not the one who killed her parents. But Abigail refuses to believe the truth…

The kid and I are heading to North Carolina this week to visit with my mom and spend some quality time shopping before school starts. :) We are taking the train. amtrak-train

This is one place we will be going. Sliding Rock. Sliding Rock is a 60' natural rock slide with a 6-7 foot deep pool at the base.

I’ve never slid down a rock before. 0_o.

My review of Sherrilyn Kenyon's No Mercy is at Smexybooks.com

No Mercy (Dark Hunters #19) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Favorite Quote: "You I expected better of." He turned his swirling sliver gaze from Sam to Dev and Fang. "You two not so much."

Dev Peliter has always worked the door of the Sanctuary; a bar run by his family. They offer a safe place for all manners of supernatural beings to eat & drink in peace. But after his parents are killed in a battle to protect his sister’s mate and the bar’s protection is revoked by Savitar...Dev begins to wonder if his life doesn’t lie beyond the Sanctuary.

Then she arrives.

Samia Savage. Samia (Sam) is part of an elite Dark Hunter group called the Dogs of War. She was an Amazon queen before being brutally betrayed and  murdered. Sam cried for vengeance and Artemis answered. The attraction between Dev and Sam is instantaneous. But Sam is here for a reason. The Daimons have developed the ability to walk in the sun which bodes ill for the Dark Hunters who now have no protection against the Daimons during the day. To make matters worse, Sam may hold the key to bring the Daimons out of darkness forever and allow them to rule the Earth.

In Kenyon’s latest installment in her fantastical Dark Hunter’s series we are given Dev’s story. Dev Peliter has always been a favorite character of mine and I was thrilled to see his story finally arrive. With his witty “no filter” commentary and his over the top paranoid delusions, we are treated to a fast paced entertaining read that balances humor and suspense in perfect harmony.
