Oh. My. Spoilers ahead.

Karma’s a bitch.

At the end of Keeping Secret, we learned that Lucas Raintree is the arse we have always thought he was when he leaves Secret standing at the altar while he handles a small problem for her uncle. He sends Desmond to inform Secret of his defection. *gasp* Though, I have to admit, a small part of me smirked and thought, “You totally deserved this, Secret.”

In Grave Secret, Secret is dealing with her anger towards Lucas by really not dealing with it. She ignores his calls, refuses to accept his apologies, and has essentially declared him persona non grata in her life. She is working to get Desmond back in her life and bed again when Lucas, like the bad penny he is, shows up and informs her that his sister, Kellon, is missing and as pack enforcer and his were queen, (they are bound together regardless of the actually wedding), she needs to find her. Secret is also investigating a rash of murders involving teenagers where her bff Callippe looks to be prime suspect number one, and Secret’s mother is back and wants Secret’s crown…preferably with her head attached to it.

I’m reviewing Keeping Secret by Sierra Dean at Smexybooks

Favorite Quote: “ The first rule of Vamp Club is you don’t talk about Vamp Club. “

It’s a nice day for a white wedding. At least that’s what Secret McQueen is hoping for, with her poofy-princess-dress marriage to a werewolf king looming closer and closer by the day. But as ever, nothing can be that easy for a vampire/werewolf hybrid for whom someone still harbors a death wish.
Summoned to the south by her werewolf uncle, who makes no bones about the fact her mate bond with Lucas doesn’t pass muster, Secret learns her furry heritage looks more like a tangled vine than a family tree. Getting her royal uncle’s blessing hinges on finding one of the missing twigs. Even with vampire sentry Holden Chancery at her side, she manages to land up to her neck in a swamp of trouble.
As an assassin’s scope zeroes in, family dramas boil up and a fast-collapsing love square threatens to bury her alive, making it to the church on time could be the least of Secret’s problems.

Oh Sierra, you bad, bad girl. I and Sierra Dean have a love/hate relationship. I love to hate her characters and she loves to feed my hate. It’s sick, but it works for us. Sierra gives Secret no room to rest in this fourth installment. Lucas forced her hand in accepting his ring and now she finds herself engaged and planning her wedding to the East Coast King of the Werewolves. The tribunal is setting her up for something, and now she has to travel to Louisiana to see her werewolf uncle who has some qualms about her marriage to Lucas. Toss in a scary arse grandmother, a pissed off hurt boyfriend, and a vampire sentry who is pressing his suit, and Secret wonders if those runaway brides didn't have the right idea.

“No, but I would tell her to go fuck herself with this mouth.”

At the end of A Bloody Good Secret, Secret McQueen killed a tribunal member, which automatically requires her to take the deceased place. Now that she is on the Tribunal, Secret finds herself playing more of an administrative role and being less active in the field. Something she misses very much. With her new supernatural powers becoming stronger and more unpredictable, she is also required to have a bodyguard. This keeps her and Holden rather close and Secret finds her attraction to him increasing. In Deep Dark Secret, Holden calls in his marker and asks Secret for help for a friend. Secret finds herself in the presence of the were-ocelot’s Queen, Genevieve, who is asking a favor. Her niece has gone missing and she wants Secret to find her. Secret is excited to finally be hitting the pavement; doing actual work. Secret realizes a serial killer is stalking paranormal females, taunting the police department with grisly clues. Her investigation leads her to her old boyfriend, Gabriel. Secret knows Gabriel couldn’t have done this and goes undercover looking for the real killer. A killer who’s gift is to die for.

Sierra Dean comes back with a hard one-two punch as she brings us another thrilling installment of her Secret McQueen series-Deep Dark Secret. A delightfully dark and humorous urban fantasy that pairs charismatic characters with engaging action filled plots that will leave you wanting more after you read the words, “The End.” Each installment continues to mature, further enriching the development of the characters in realistic fashion. The emotion and decisions they make aren’t always what we want, but we can’t deny they aren’t for the best. I wouldn’t recommend starting here if you haven’t read the previous books. This arc is long reaching and each book picks up where the last one leaves off. You’ll miss out on a lot of the build up if you skip.

Secret McQueen has had an eventful year. She has gone from being an unattached low level bounty hunter to a high ranking vampire Tribunal leader with not one but two boyfriends and the possibility for more. I’m reviewing A Bloody Good Secret by Sierra Dean at Smexybooks

Favorite Quote: “Don’t let those wolves bowl you over, Secret. You’re the prize, not the property.”

A Bloody Good Secret picks up about 3 months after Something Secret This Way Comes. When Secret was given the name of her next “assignment” at the end of Something Secret This Way Comes, she decided the best way to handle it was not to and ran to her grandmother’s house. But Secret should have realized that she would not be able to hide for long so when she is kidnapped and forcibly returned she isn’t so much surprised by the act as she is by the participants. Lucas Rain, King of the Werewolves, and her vampire tribunal boss, Sig, apparently decided that it was time for her to come home and acted together. Secret is both fascinated and insulted by this.

As Secret investigates to try to clear Holden’s name, it becomes apparent, with the help from some unlikely allies, that Holden is bring framed and unless Secret finds the true traitor, she and Holden will both suffer the consequences.

Favorite Quote: ”You have my word that any future insults will be much more personalized and meant only for you.”

Secret McQueen is a bounty hunter. Half vampire and half werewolf, she was hired by the vampire council at age 16 to hunt and kill rogue vampires. Now at age 22, her name is the vampire equivalent of the bogey man. Keeping her dual nature a secret is difficult enough without being soul bonded to the king of the werewolves.
