Favorite Quote: “This is my wife….and these are my daughter’s boyfriends.”

Claire McKinley getting dumped on her wedding day sets the stage for an amazing adventure that ends in love when her former fiance’s brother, Dylan Wade, rescues her and takes her home with him to San Diego. Dylan is not Claire’s biggest fan but no one deserves what she endured. When Claire arrives at Dylan’s house, she meets his “roommate” Aidan and from there, things get interesting. Dylan and Aidan have a complicated relationship that goes beyond platonic. (we see a beginning of it in Getting Hotter) They are both bisexual and while they enjoy each other, they also feel a woman completes their relationship. And they want that woman to be Claire.

Claire is unsure how all this will work. She is attracted sexually to both men but she has concerns and she knows Dylan doesn’t like her. Aidan sees the tension and decides to take matters into his own hands and force a confrontation between Claire and Dylan. A confrontation that sends a firestorm of passion throughout the house and binds all three together. When outside forces learn of their unusual relationship, all three become fodder for gossip which leads to heartache. Can Claire, Dylan, and Aidan stay strong or will they succomb to the wants of others and let their chance at happiness die out?

Alice’s Wonderland by Allison DobellErotic Romance
E book/Novella

Favorite Quote: “The best way to get through to a man like him? All to easy: leave him wanting more.”
Alice Mitchell has spent her life building an erotic luxury goods online store that caters to the rich and discreet. When well known playboy journalist, Flynn O’Grady, begins to write a series of articles that mocks her customers and their toys, using her store as an example,  Alice decides that Flynn needs a proper lesson. And who better to deliver that then her?
Flynn believes that boredom in the bedroom doesn’t need spice…it needs a change in partners. Using all her knowledge, skill, and toys, Alice sets out to show Flynn that monogamy can be fun when you change the rules, rather than the partner.
Alice’s Wonderland is a short story, only 100 pages, but delivers an erotic romance with humor, sensuality, and a sweet emotional undertone.

Sebastian (Bast) Kent has always been considered an outcast in the vampire community. Unsure who sired him, Sebastian has struggled his whole life with his identity. When he becomes violently ill outside of a bar, he is rescued by a young homeless woman named Alice.
Alice Bowman lives on the street as a victim of circumstances. When she sees Bast getting violently ill she can sympathize due to her own illness and risks her life to take him to safety. Bast is attracted to Alice and hires her against his better judgment, to help him trace his genealogy to discern the reasons for his mysterious illness. An illness that only dissipates beneath the cool touch of Alice’s touch and kisses.
As Alice and Bast explore their growing passion, Bast’s mysterious illness morphs into something incredible and dangerous. So dangerous in fact that certain individuals will stop at nothing to ensure Bast never recovers…even if that means death.
Hunger Awakened is a hot and steamy erotic paranormal romance. Dark and sensual, it is balanced by touches of humor and whimsy that allows for a fast paced read. Easy to follow, the world building and character development allows us to slip easily into this secretive and highly guarded world of vampires and the harsh politics that rule their domain. Though Hunger Awakened is connected to two other books (Hunger Revealed and Hunger Aroused) it readily stands on its own and reading the other two first isn’t necessary.

I’m reviewing Power Exchange by A.J. Rose at Smexybooks

Power Exchange

Power Exchange by A.J. Rose
MM Erotic Romance
Ebook
September 15, 2012
Voodoo Lily Press

Favorite Quote: “It takes more courage to kneel before someone, then to stand beside them.“

Detective Gavin DeGrassi finds himself reluctantly intrigued when a brutal murder of a dom takes him into the world of BDSM. With the help of experienced Dom and psychologist, Ben Haverson, Gavin begins to divulge deeper into the world and is forced to acknowledge his own increasing desires; for the life and Ben.  When more victims are discovered, Gavin jumps in head first and begins an emotional journey that pits him against his most challenging adversary-himself. However, Gavin and Ben have come under the scrutiny of the killer and if Gavin doesn’t solve this case soon, he and Ben may be the next in line for death.

Power Exchange is a steamy mm erotic romance that pits our protagonists against a vicious serial killer while delivering a good balance between the romance and the mystery. I enjoyed the unfolding journey of a novice entering into the world of power exchanges and D/S relationships. AJ Rose does a fabulous job of presenting Gavin and Ben’s evolving relationship-addressing Gavin’s concerns and tentative overtures in a realistic fashion. Well written with a steady pace, we are able to follow along and submerge ourselves in Gavin’s life fully with no uneasiness that sometimes occurs when reading erotic romance.

Gavin DeGrassi immediately inspires trust and affection. A legacy detective, he works homicide and enjoys it. We see that Gavin is a submissive personality right off the bat as his family, partner, and wife attempt to push him into situations he is not comfortable with. Unhappy and confused, it’s inevitable that Gavin will seek someone who can provide the structure and praise he so desperately is seeking.

I’m reviewing Jaci Burton’s Playing To Win at Smexybooks

Playing to Win (Play by Play, #4)

Playing To Win (Play by Play #4) by Jaci Burton
Erotic Contemporary Romance
Released: September 4, 2012
Penguin

Favorite Quote: “He took her breath away.”

Talented wide receiver Cole Riley should have the world at his feet, but his antics on and off the field have made him a liability. His agent tells him to shape up or else he’s done. Image consultant Samantha Brooks has agreed to help Cole clean up his image but isn’t sure she can take the bad out of this aggressively sexy man. When the sparks start to fly, Sam lays down a few rules; hands off. But even Sam can’t help but respond to the sexual appeal Cole has, especially when he turns that gorgeous gaze on her. When Cole decides that he wants Sam in his life and bed, can she resist or will she play to win?

First off, once again, let us discuss Jaci Burton’s cover models. ZOMG! I know I’m not the only one who is staring at the strings on those pants, hoping they will magically start to unravel. Le sigh.

Playing To Win was, to me, a deviation from her last four books. The harder edges are distinctly softer, the romantic “conflict” more emotionally based, and there is none of the heavy external conflicts that came in to play with the previous installments, making it a little less enjoyable for me. Of course, we still have Burton’s requisite smoking hot male lead, sassy intelligent female, a solid plot, and some heavy, heavy smexing everywhere in between. I enjoyed the way this story reveals itself to you. It starts out with a VERY sexy masturbation scene and just goes uphill from there.

I’m a huge fan of Ms. James Rough Riders series so when I was offered this one for review thought, “Ride’em cowgirl!” Wrangled and Tangled is an erotic western romance that centers around two couples; one starting down the path of love and one trying to find their way back.
