Screwed by Laurie Plissner is a modern YA version of Cinderella. That is, if Cinderella had gotten pregnant, her parents were the evil ones, and she learns that her original Prince Charming is a jerk. Grace, our Cinderella, is a parent’s dream child. A straight A student with the world at her feet, one bad decision places her life on a far different course than she ever imagined. She succumbs to a popular boy’s attentions and ends up pregnant after she loses her virginity in the backseat of his SUV. When she finds out she’s pregnant, both the father and her uber religious parents push her towards an abortion. Grace decides to have the baby and suddenly finds herself kicked out of her house with only a hand full of trash bags filled with all her possessions. Grace is saved when her extremely rich next door neighbor, her fairy godmother, swoops in to save the day. She brings Grace into her home and provides the support Grace’s parents should have provided. As Grace struggles to deal with her parent’s abandonment, the judgmental tone of the town, and the changes to her body; she learns that strength comes from within and the only one she has to answer to is herself.

Bullheaded is a M/M romantic contemporary set amongst the backdrop of the NRA (National Rodeo Association). Cait Ford shows the depth of her rodeo knowledge with a glossary of terms situated in the front of the book and detailed descriptions throughout the story. Told in alternating POVs, we get a sweet, sometimes frustrating story of love, loss, and growth. Flamboyant characters, humorous dialogue, and well plotted scenes will have you sighing while trying not to laugh as our heroes struggle to find their place together in their world.  I enjoyed the fact that we got dual POVs. It’s always interesting to watch (or read in this case) the same scene told by two different people. It’s easier to see where some of the anger and frustration that each man feels, comes from.

Diana’s Hound is an incredibly sexy, action packed story that will keep you glued to your e reader. Ripe with sexual promise and a tense storyline, this enchanting mixture of old and new sets the stage as we prepare to engage with our two explosive protagonists-Nate and Diana.

We are taken on a fast light-hearted journey that leaves you laughing out loud while giving you a couple mysteries to solve. Bedlam reigns supreme as Mona tries to figure out who wants her dead and why she suddenly has two suitors after a fifteen year dry spell.

I’m assuming those reading this review have read the entire series up to now. If you haven’t, this contains some mild spoilers.
Fans of Neill and her Chicagoland Vampire series will be pleased with her latest foray back into her exciting world of vampires, supernatural hijinks and baked meats. After a somewhat disappointing predecessor, Biting Cold, House Rules comes back with a vengeance and sets the arc and characters back on track. The GP (Greenwich Presidium) has sanctioned Cadogan House and Ethan has decided to fight back by seceding from the elitist vampire ruling council rather than taking anymore abuse. While the house is preparing for the secession, rogue vampires are turning up dead. Merit and Ethan once again place their lives on the line as they try to figure out who is killing the vampires and why.

I was pleased by the balance permeating this installment. Action, suspense, drama, romance, and humor all blend together perfectly to give us a fast paced adventurous story that hooks you from beginning to end.

When Simon’s late night shenanigans finally push Caroline over the edge, she confronts Simon, only to discover that she’d like very much to involve herself in his shenanigans and his heart.

I absolutely love Alice Clayton’s Redhead series, so when asked if I’d like to read this one, I grabbed a copy and ran; cackling like a loon. Wallbanger is aptly titled. A funny, madcap, smexy romantic contemporary that had me reading straight through. Fast pacing and a smooth flowing storyline will keep you in stitches as Wallbanger and Nightie Girl begin the battle of the headboard. Filled with plenty of humor, sarcasm, engaging dialogue, and well developed characters-I didn’t stop laughing till the end.

AJ Rose does a fabulous job of presenting Gavin and Ben’s evolving relationship-addressing Gavin’s concerns and tentative overtures in a realistic fashion. Well written with a steady pace, we are able to follow along and submerge ourselves in Gavin’s life fully with no uneasiness that sometimes occurs when reading erotic romance.

Gavin DeGrassi immediately inspires trust and affection. A legacy detective, he works homicide and enjoys it. We see that Gavin is a submissive personality right off the bat as his family, partner, and wife attempt to push him into situations he is not comfortable with. Unhappy and confused, it’s inevitable that Gavin will seek someone who can provide the structure and praise he so desperately is seeking.

Clare searches for the the jacket’s owner and comes to find out it belongs to Amanda Stavros, a supposed victim of the serial killer. Further investigation leads her to the town’s #1 suspect, Jack Dimaunahan. Local bad boy and a serious crush for Clare.

Darien’s past comes back to haunt her when she blatantly ignores everyone’s advice and sets out to find Raif’s daughter. I would classify this book as a character growth book. Especially for Darian. Having spent a majority of her life alone, she has a hard time allowing anyone in to help her. Her protective instincts are strong and they often blind her to the fact that she is guilty of doing what she adamantly hates being done to her. Her pit bull mentality causes a considerable amount of grief and pain but it is an experience she must go through if she is to grow beyond the boundaries originally set up for her character.

Crush is an easy going laid back polar bear shifter who is transferred when his cover is blown. He is sent to The Group in order to investigate a group of humans who are hunting and killing shifters. Partnering up with Dez McDermont (The Mane Event ) and Dee Ann Smith (Big Bad Beast) brings him to the attention of Marcella Malone. Cella, a feline shifter, is a contractor for the KMZ, and plays enforcer for the Carnivores hockey team. She, along with other shadow shifter groups, have been pulled into a mass joint effort to help find these human hunters and shut them down. When Cella and Crush meet, the sparks fly in a shower of snorting and laughing. They are exact opposites. Crush needs nothing more than his foster dog, some fat to chew on, and a quiet home. Cella needs family, noise, and controversy. Cella believes it is her mission to make the uptight Crush chill out and relax while Crush believes Cella is certifiably insane and needs to be committed with no hope for release. When Cella’s interfering aunts try to set her up with her second cousin, Pete the “RV king”, Cella begs Crush to help her out by being her “pretend” boyfriend. Taking A Shot is the third book in Jaci Burton’s hot and oh so steamy Play By Play series that revolves around the Riley family. Before I start this review, let’s take a minute to genuflect at the cover shall we? *happy sigh* Seriously, have you ever seen anything so beautifully lickable in your life?

Jenna Riley has grown up in a family dominated by sports. She has lived, breathed, and now works in the field, since a child. Since her father’s heart attack, she has taken over the reins to the family sport’s bar, Riley’s, giving up on her own dreams and ambitions. This has resulted in her one and only non breakable rule. She doesn’t date sports figures. Ever. This attitude both intrigues and challenges Tyler (Ty) Anderson. A star pro-hockey player, he has been attracted to Jenna since the first time they met. Unsure as to why she dislikes him so much, Ty keeps coming to the bar and trying to tempt Jenna into taking a chance with him.

Taking A Shot has all the trademarks of being a Jaci Burton book. Hot male lead, sassy intelligent female, a plausible plot, and some heavy, heavy smexying everywhere in between. I enjoyed the way this story reveals itself to you. It starts out slow as Ty bids his time trying to find away to break through Jenna’s shell. Ty spends plenty of time on the seduction of Jenna. The sexual heat and playfulness in this book make it a fun read

Left Hand Magic picks up about 3 weeks after Right Hand Magic ended. Trust fund baby Tate Eresby has made herself at home in Golgotham and in the arms of a sexy royal Kymeran prince. Tate had originally come to Golgotham, New York’s premiere paranormal underworld, because she needed a larger space to create her large metal sculptures. At the end of Right Hand Magic, we find out that Tate’s sculptures are “special” and a reporter’s article about that has resulted in Golgotham becoming a human tourist attraction. Not everyone is thrilled with this though. Humans, also called numps by the residents of Golgotham, don’t understand the residents or magic of Golgotham and tensions rise as prejudice and racism permeate the air.

Hexe does what he can to protect Tate and tries to convince her to head back to New York where she will be safe but she refuses to leave Golgotham or him. When Hexe’s evil uncle Easu begins a steady campaign to rid Golgotham of all humans, Tate gets caught in the middle and finds herself fighting for her love and her life.

There are some spoilers in here so proceed at your own risk.
The Darkest Surrender is Strider’s story. Strider houses the demon Defeat-a particularly nasty demon who demands winning at all cost or Strider suffers unimaginable pain. Even though Strider is very arrogant and alpha to the extreme, thanks to his demon, in here we see a different side to him. His crazy personality and off the wall humor really shines through and I found myself liking him more then I ever did in the previous books. At the end of The Darkest Secret, we learn that Strider has a teeny crush on Hailee, Amun’s girlfriend, and that Kaia slept with Paris. When Kaia runs into Strider she realizes that he is her consort but Strider wants nothing to do with her and while Kaia could take him against his will, she chooses not to. She wants him to come to her willingly because defeating him would hurt him. Strider also wants Kaia but she constantly challenges him and he fears what he would do to her in order to win.
