Jo Beverley’s Emily And The Dark Angel was originally part of a series that began with Lord Wraybourne's Betrothal. I have waited a very long time for Piers Verderan’s story and am pleased that it lived up to my expectations.
Emily Granwich is a 20 something spinster who lives a quiet life in the country with her invalid father and eccentric aunt. Her brother is considered missing in action so she handles the family's estate business much to her father’s dismay. When in town on business she is “assaulted” by a flying box of violet body powder which erupts and covers her head to toe.
The intended victim of the powdery weapon is Piers Verderan. Dubbed the “Dark Angel” by enemies -he is considered a deadly man without a conscience. In town for the start of the hunting season, he comes to Ms Granwich’s assistance and soon appears in Emily’s life more often then she likes.
Yet for all the rumors surrounding him, Emily can’t help but wonder if Piers is as bad as he is painted? Though warned that no descent woman should be seen in his company, Piers shows remarkable restraint and courtesy when in Emily’s company. As our hero and heroine begin the intricate dance of romance and love, will Emily listen to her heart or her family when dealing with her Dark Angel?

Take A Chance On Me revolves primarily on Cleo. Cleo is dating the man of her dreams-only to find out he is married with 2 kids. Of course, she finds all this out in front of her sworn mortal enemy-Johnny LaVenture. Johnny and Cleo have been nemeses since grade school. As she hasn’t seen him in years, it’s only fitting he shows up to witness her most humiliating moment.

The story progresses as Cleo tries to get on with her life and avoid Johnny-only to find he keeps popping up where ever she is. Throw in her ex boyfriend’s soon to be ex wife, her best friend’s unrequited love, and her sister’s sudden shock when an 18 year old girl shows up claiming to be her husband’s unknown child and you have a mad cap hilarious story that have you laughing the whole time.

The Grimrose Path (A Trickster Novel #2) by Rob Thurman

Trixa Iktomi is a trickster; a semi divine shape shifter being who is several thousand years old. Youthful in appearance and  dangerous in reality; Trixa “teaches” the naive to be wise and the shysters to beware. While Trixa will lie, deceive, omit, and generally cause mischief; she has a unique sense of right and wrong and gives only what is deserved.

She manages a bar with her best bud Leo-otherwise known as Loki- the original trickster. In the Trick Of Light-Trickster #1, Trixa and Leo hunt down an artifact and use it to extract revenge for her brothers death. Due to some mischief on Leo’s part, the artifact decided that some humility was needed and has made both Trixa and Leo “supernaturally challenged” for the next 4 years. All they have is their experience and wits to survive. Lucky for them, they have that in spades.

When Trixa is approached by Eligos for help in finding out who’s mass slaughtering the demons of hell she is naturally hesitant. Trixa lives to kills demons-not save them. But this is not an ordinary killer and Trixa will need all her skills and friends to stop this one. With Zeke, Gabriel, and a few new friends, Trixa’s response to the situation is astonishingly Machiavellian in it’s construction and confirms that she is indeed THE Trickster.

Clockwork Angel (Infernal Devices-Book 1) by Cassandra Clare

When Tessa Grey arrives in London in search of her brother Nate she is greeted by a pair of sisters who claim to have been sent to by her brother as escorts. Tessa soon realizes that she has been kidnapped with no hope of escape. Forced to acknowledge and use magic she did not know she processed,  she is informed she is being trained for marriage to the infamous “Magister.”
She is rescued by two young Shadowhunters, Will and Jem, and soon forcefully introduced to a world that she never knew existed. Magic and supernatural creatures all co-exist together in this shadowy  “downworld” of London, England-policed by the Shadowhunters. Invited to stay with them at their home, the Institute, while trying to locate her brother, she learns more about her particular brand of magic and why she is so valuable to this world.

Clockwork Angel is a prequel to Clare’s Mortal Instruments series. Set in a different era, we are given the chance to see how the world we loved in Mortal Instruments came to be. There is not a lot of differences between the two series but enough minute deviations to render Clockwork Angel interesting enough to stand on it’s own. What really stood out for me was how much more “modern” and mature these characters are in relation to her MI series. Set in a dark and transverse Victorian era we don’t see the stereotypical gender attitudes and prejudices of this time. Tessa is refreshingly astute in her thoughts and while she does display some pre conceived notions of how men & women should act, she accepts & adapts brilliantly to the nature of the Shadowhunters and their personalities.

AJ and Pax are partners in the Wild Riders gang, an undercover agency that infiltrates biker gangs. Both of them had similar upbringings and personalities that bonds the two of them in friendship. When they realize that they both are attracted to the same woman, it takes their friendship to a new level and they begin to “share” woman in sexual ways. AJ and Pax have commitment issues and are all about the fun and games of their escapades-as long as their willing conquests realize that love will never enter the picture. When AJ’s ex girlfriend Teresa enters the picture, Pax is immediately taken with her and AJ feels stirrings for her from their past together. But Teresa is still recovering from a traumatic event and the thought of being with 2anyone scares her to death.

Penetration=a hundred year non negotiable marriage. Plus, Elizabeth seems to have an angry ghost hanging around that wants her dead. As the town couples suddenly start trying to kill each other and the local shape shifters take an un natural interest in Tez;  Elizabeth must dig up her past in order to have a future.

His best friend and drinking partner, Turney, is the son of Saturn aka Father Time. While he is ready for the ascension...he's not ready to give up the beer and the chicks just yet. There is also Emma the daughter of Mother Nature, Sophie the daughter of the Sandman, Mina and Martin the twins of War, and the newest addition, Evie the daughter of Satan.

Amidst the drinking and dancing, a fellow godling is murdered. Since the bar they are in hampers all magic but a godlings, the consensus is that they was murdered by another godling. The scooby gang gets together and proceed to find out the who and why of the murder.
When Noc’s dad approaches them about solving a series of murders and disappearances they once again use their powers, minds, and friendship in an exciting action filled adventure that spans continents and realities.

My New Book Review Is At Smexy Books-Unchained by Sharon Ashwood

Today's review is Unchained (The Dark Forgotten #3) by Sharon Ashwood.

Ashe Carver is monster killer extraordinaire-and she has the scars to prove it. She made a horrendous mistake years ago that resulted in the death of her parents and the loss of her powers. She has spent her life honing her skills into the ultimate slayer that the supernatural world fears. But a custody battle with her in laws has her putting away the knives and replacing them with a library card.
This is the ultimate paranormal romance. Incredible word building creates a story so full of life that I was unable to put it down. The story races a long, even though it is chocked full of intrigue, suspense and romance. There is a lot going on but all the story lines blend so well together that
the you see neither beginning nor end.

Today' review is Cold Sight (Extrasensory Agents #1) by Leslie Parrish

Cold Sight is the explosive dark, slightly twisted new suspense series about a group of paranormal investigators who take on the cases nobody else wants-the cold cases.  Parrish starts us off in the clutches of a sadistic killer who is playing and taunting his newest victim-Yvonne (Vonnie) Jackson. The goose bumps coated my body as I felt the waves of despair rolling off Vonnie and the joy the killer receives from her fear. I knew at that moment  that this book wasn’t going to pat you on the head in the end and tell you everything will be ok.

Aidan and Lexie have both be burned badly in their jobs but the resemblance ends there. While Aidan has chosen to hide; Lexie barrels full steam ahead still sure her story has merit and investigating on the side. When bones are found and Vonnie goes missing, Lexie and her boss know that the killer has struck again and her boss steers her towards Aidan for help. At first Aidan will have nothing to do with her. Reporters crucified him and Lexie is tarred with the same brush. But when Aidan receives a psychic “call” from Vonnie he is pulled into the investigation and into Lexie’s life.
